Sunscreen
The fact is that the sun damages our skin. Even moderate sun exposure leads to the aging and premature aging of our skin. Wear sunscreen everyday, no matter your skin tone or how long you will be outside. Slather on at least an SPF 15 every single morning and be sure to reapply if you are in the sun for a prolonged amount of time. Also, buy yourself a pair of high-quality pair of sunglasses that will will effectively block all harmful UV rays and protect the delicate skin around your eyes.
Moisturizer
You may not think so, but your skin needs a moisturizer. A moisturizer that’s full of antioxidants will not only hydrate the upper layers of your epidermis, but will also supply nourishing ingredients into your cells, helping skin retain its youthful elasticity. Ingredients to look for in a moisturizer include resveratrol, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. However, also look for things you should stay away from, like parabens. Eye Cream
While it may seem like a silly, unneeded step you really do need an eye cream in your anti-aging routine. The skin around your eyes is thin and sensitive, so your daily moisturizer simply won’t do the trick. This area is often the place that wrinkles first rear their ugly heads, so pay special attention and treat this skin with care. Look for products that help to plump up the skin and minimize the appearance of fine lines and/or aim to slow the arrival of new wrinkles by speeding up the cell turnover process. Creams containing retinol (a derivative of vitamin A) tend to work the best at preventing the appearance of future fine lines and wrinkles. Make sure to use a gentle touch and dab eye cream (not rub) on so that you don’t damage the thin skin around your eyes.
Exfoliant
If you really want to take your anti-aging routine to the next level, add an exfoliant. Exfoliants work to slough off the dead, dull skin cells on the top layer of your skin. This leaves you with a brighter, more youthful appearance. However, exfoliants can actually harm the skin when used to often or contain harsh ingredients. Look for products with “micro-beads” or another form of fine, gentle grains. Products containing chemical exfoliants, such as alpha- or beta-hydroxy acids are also a smart choice.
So now you know that with a few simple steps and proper application of the right products, you can embrace your timeless look and Age Like a Gent.
