Weekend Recap
I finally had the chance to sit down and write about all of the exciting events from a couple of weekends ago. Overall, things went very smoothly and we had a great response from the media and our clients. Here's the scoop:
NBC News DFW aired a video shot at The Gent's Place on "Doubling the Life of Your Razor". Unfortunately, The Gent's Place was not mentioned ONCE during the video but they did include our name in the online article. I did actually have two clients recognize my face under all of the shave cream though who called to make sure that was actually me on TV. Albeit, I am grateful that the Dallas TV news is showing interest in The Gent's Place and am glad they came out to interview a true professional and expert in the men's grooming field, Perry Gastis of The Gentlemens Refinery.
We made the front page of the Frisco Enterprise newspaper! A picture of Perry Gastis shaving Frisco's Mayor, Maher Maso, can be seen on the front page. Click here for the full article. The Mayor seemed to love The Gentlemens Refinery shave experience. It is a unique hot lather shave that is a facial and shave in one. He loved it enough to purchase a gift card for his son immediately afterwards...thank you for the support Mayor Maso!
Mr. Vondrick Jackson, The Gent's Place newest Master Barber was certified by Perry Gastis and is now performing our exclusive men's shave service ALL WEEK LONG. Von is a great asset to the team and is the first male employee of the shop (if you don't count me as an employee). Von has his own private barber room where he performs the 3 Course haircutting service and all of our men's shave services. You can book an appointment online with Von 24/7. I highly recommend him as a great haircutter, shaver, and a great guy to talk to for an hour!
Last but not least, our event at Lombardo Custom Apparel was a huge success. We performed several straight razor shaves for their clients and even Jay Lombardo himself. Jay was so impressed that he is now a Gentlemens Refinery product user and advocate. We have established a great partnership with Lombardo and will be holding another private event for their clients later this month and next. Jay Lombardo and his staff are truly top notch and first class and are already great friends of mine. Here's to a long-lasting and fruitful partnership!
Finally, thanks to all of our clients who showed up over the crazy weekend. Many of you had a chance to meet Perry Gastis and learn more about The Gent's Place and The Gentlemens Refinery products that we offer. I feel like we are getting better and better every week...if you haven't seen us yet, please stop by and take us up on a free tour of the shop!
Weekend Events
As I mentioned on a previous post, Perry Gastis will be in town this evening through Sunday for some very special events. The media has even decided to join us! Please see below for a list of a few events that are scheduled for the weekend:
Friday
10 a.m. - Frisco Enterprise interviews Perry Gastis and me on the opening of The Gent's Place and Perry's exclusive product line
11:30 a.m. - NBC News is interviewing Perry Gastis on the "How to Choose the Right Razor" story they are broadcasting on the nightly new. They will also be shooting video of Perry performing a straight razor face and LEG shave (in case you were wondering, the leg shave will be on my receptionist, not me).
1 p.m. - 3 p.m. - Perry will be answering questions about The Gentlemens Refinery products and offering free shaving and grooming advice. This is a great opportunity to ask the men's leading grooming expert on how to correct any skin sensitivities or shaving issues you may be dealing with.
4:30 p.m. - Frisco Mayor, Maher Maso, will be in for our exclusive The Gentlemens Refinery Straight Razor Shave service with Perry Gastis.
5:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - Perry will be training our newest barbers on how to perform a hot lather shave the GR way.
Saturday
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Private event at Lombardo Custom Apparel for their clients.
6 p.m - 10 p.m. - More training with our barbers.

Open Earlier?
Our Sunday business is starting to pick up and we have had a couple of requests to be open a little earlier so that you guys can look your best before church. I am considering opening at 10 a.m. if we have strong demand for it. Also, would it help if we were open at 9 a.m. during the week instead of 10 a.m.? Please make a comment on this post if you would regularly schedule appointments at 10 a.m. on Sundays or 9 a.m. during the week and I will make the changes if the demand is there.
Introducing 'The Junior Gents Cut'
We've had a few requests from clients recently to provide haircuts for their little boys. As a proud father of two little boys (1 and 2 years old), I know how hard it can be to get out of the house without the kiddos and also how rewarding it is to spend some "guy time" with them. So, we will start offering The Junior Gents Cut ($25) today for 12 years old and under which includes a personal consultation, cut, and style, energizing shampoo and conditioning, and steamed hot towel. We look forward to all of the manly bonding that will take place and promise to keep all of this guy stuff private from the moms!
Perry's Back!
Many of you regulars may already know that Perry Gastis will be joining us again this Friday and Saturday to certify a new barber, meet some clients, and perform exclusive shave services on Saturday at a private event at Lombardo Custom Apparel. For those of you who aren't familiar with Perry Gastis, he is the founder and CEO of The Gentlemens Refinery natural and organic shave line. We are the only shop in the State of Texas right now carrying their products and one of three places in the world performing his proprietary straight razor shave services. Feel free to come meet Perry on Friday before or after your appointment. If you haven't booked an appointment for this Friday, I highly recommend you do it soon before we completely book up.

Online Appointment Booking
I noticed several new online appointment bookings this last week and am glad to see that the service is working properly. We are in beta test with the software company right now and are one of their first clients globally to work with them at this level. There may be a few hiccups as they tweak the system, so please email me if you are having any problems and what the issue is when making an appointment online. The service was down for the last 36 hours, but we are up and running again.
Knowing that most of our clientele were going to be busy business guys with hectic schedules, I knew that I needed to provide the most seamless way for you to book appointments. We are the only men's shop in the metroplex currently to offer online appointment booking. If you haven't done it yet, please give it a try and let me know what you think.
Two Weeks in Business!
The Gent's Place officially surpassed the two week in business mark this past Friday. As many of you know, we offered quite a sweet prize to one of our lucky grand opening guests a couple of weeks ago. A 5 Course Membership was won by Greg Cryer of Frisco, TX! Greg came in for his first free service today and told us that he was thoroughly impressed with The Gent's Place atmosphere and quality of services. Thanks to Greg and all of you for showing up these past two weeks to test us out and see what we are made of.
